By accessing or using the Website, creating an account, submitting content, attending events, enrolling in courses, or purchasing products or services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use of the Website.

These Terms apply in addition to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

  • The information you provide is accurate and complete
  • You will keep your details up to date
  • You are authorised to act on your own behalf or on behalf of your employer (where applicable)

2.2 Account Security

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your login details
  • All activities under your account
  • Ensuring your device and browser are secure

SOLAS is not liable for any loss or damage arising from failure to safeguard account credentials.

3. Membership Payments and Subscriptions

3.1 Fees and Renewals

Membership fees and subscription payments must be paid promptly to maintain access to member services, CPD content, the job board, and event discounts.

Subscriptions may renew automatically depending on your purchase settings. Renewal preferences can be managed in your account.

3.2 Refunds

Refunds are offered in line with UK consumer law and depend on:

  • The type of product or service purchased
  • Whether a service has already been accessed or delivered
  • Event cancellation rules (see Section 6)

3.3 Failed Payments

If a recurring payment fails:

  • Additional payment attempts may be made
  • Access to subscription-based services may be suspended
  • The subscription may be cancelled if payment is not resolved

4.1 Access

CPD courses, training materials, and LMS content may be accessible to:

4.3 Completion Records

SOLAS maintains records of:

  • Course participation
  • Assessment outcomes

These records may be used to verify professional development.

4.4 Respect and Integrity (Course Conduct Requirements)

Because CPD students are working toward a professional qualification and may be representing their firm, all students are expected to behave in a respectful, professional, and considerate manner toward lecturers and fellow students.

The lecturer reserves the right to remove any student who behaves disruptively or fails to meet expected standards of conduct. If a student is removed from a class, the lecturer will notify the SOLAS Education Board.
If a student has concerns that cannot be resolved directly with the lecturer, they should contact their Area Organiser.

4.5 Attendance Requirements

Students are responsible for attending scheduled classes and keeping up with course content.

  • If classes are missed, students must catch up in their own time.
  • It would not normally be expected that a student misses three consecutive classes.
  • If a student does miss three consecutive classes, consideration will be given as to whether they may continue on the course.

4.6 Course Funding (Employerโ€‘Funded Students)

If a course is funded by an employer:

  • All courseโ€‘related correspondence may be sent to the firmโ€™s address.
  • The lecturer, Area Organiser, or Education Board may inform the employer if the student fails to adhere to these Terms or behaves in a way that impacts their progression.

5. Job Board and Applications

5.1 Job Listings

Employers posting job listings must provide accurate information and comply with all applicable advertising, equality, and employment laws. SOLAS may edit, reject, or remove listings.

5.2 Applications

Applicants agree that:

  • Application details are accurate
  • Employers may contact them directly
  • SOLAS is not responsible for any hiring decision

Applications are deleted:

  • When the job listing is deleted
  • When the applicant deletes their account
  • When an erasure request is submitted

SOLAS does not mediate between employers and applicants.

6. Events, Bookings and Attendance

6.1 Event Booking

Bookings are binding once confirmed. Information such as dietary requirements and access needs is used only for event administration.

6.2 Cancellations

Refund eligibility depends on venue policies, supplier terms, and SOLAS operating costs.
If SOLAS cancels an event, attendees may receive:

Event materials and recordings are for personal use only and may not be shared, reproduced, or distributed without permission.
