The updated SOLAS course offering centres on three essential areas of legal accounting practice:

• Cashroom Accounting and Administration
• Executry Procedures
• Feeing Principles & File Management

Delivered over a one‑year programme, each subject is taught as a standalone module over a dedicated term. This approach allows learners to focus fully on one area at a time while building a well‑rounded understanding of legal finance.

Classes run one evening per week and are delivered in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Inverness (subject to demand), making it easier to balance professional development alongside work and personal commitments.

Flexible learning to suit your career stage

Recognising that no two career paths are the same, the SOLAS programme offers flexibility. Participants can:

• Complete all three modules within the year, or
• Choose to study one or two modules to suit their role or development goals

Those who successfully complete all three modules will be eligible to apply for Associate Membership of SOLAS, a recognised marker of professional commitment and competence.

Applicants should have at least one year’s experience within the legal or accountancy profession. While some familiarity with Executries is beneficial, it is not essential.
