The Society’s work is supported by three main committees: the General Council, the Education Examination Board, and the Local Branch Councils. Each plays a distinct role in guiding our direction and maintaining high standards across the organisation.
General Council
The General Council is formed from elected representatives of each branch. It oversees the overall governance and strategic direction of the Society. Members serve a three‑year term.
Education Examination Board
This board is made up of elected members appointed by the SOLAS councils. It is responsible for all aspects of organising and managing our classes and examinations, ensuring the quality and consistency of our educational standards.
Local Branch Council
Each branch has its own Local Branch Council made up of elected members. These councils focus on local matters and member support at branch level, including organising seminars and learning opportunities to help members broaden their knowledge.
