Quick guides for the main SOLAS features members, advertisers, and event submitters use most often.
Directory & Privacy Controls
Control how your profile appears in member and committee directory views and understand what stays private.
Directory And Privacy Controls
What this area is for
Your profile includes controls that affect how your details appear in directory views.
These controls are intended to help you manage:
- whether your profile appears in the member directory
- which profile details can appear when your directory profile is visible
- extra committee-directory visibility choices where committee appointments apply
Member directory visibility
The main directory privacy choice is the all-or-nothing member directory setting.
If you hide your profile from the member directory:
- your listing should not appear there
- field-level member directory visibility settings are ignored
If you leave your profile visible:
- you can choose which profile details are shown where that option is available
Field-level visibility
Depending on your account, the profile may allow visibility choices for things such as:
- current role
- employer or company
- SOLAS branch
Phone numbers and email addresses are not currently shown in the public member directory unless SOLAS introduces a dedicated public use for them later.
Committee directory controls
If you hold active committee appointments, you may also see a separate committee-directory section.
That section is separate from the public member directory controls and is intended for committee-facing profile visibility choices.
Managed fields
Some profile fields can be visible but not editable by the member directly.
For example, your SOLAS branch may be shown in read-only form and managed by SOLAS.
Best next step
Review your profile visibility settings in My Profile whenever you change role, employer, or committee responsibilities. If you need a managed field corrected, contact SOLAS.
