Membership Status

Understand the difference between active members, students, and former members, and why account options can change.

Membership Status

Why your account may look different from someone else’s

The SOLAS portal shows different tools depending on your account status.

That means two users may log in and see different menu items, dashboard cards, or account options.

Active member

An active member may see:

  • My SOLAS next-step guidance
  • member profile tools
  • CPD access
  • certificate access when eligible
  • member-only renewals or subscriptions where relevant
  • member event and account routes

Student

A student may see:

  • course and lesson access
  • student-related learning tools

A student does not automatically see the same professional-member CPD tools as a current member.

Former member

A former member may still be able to log in with limited account access.

This usually means they can still:

  • view account basics
  • view some order history
  • request a data export
  • download that export from the same account area after SOLAS has prepared it

But they should not usually keep access to:

  • member-only CPD tools
  • current-member dashboard actions
  • member-only areas that require an active entitlement

Why menu items can appear or disappear

Menu items can change because of:

  • membership status
  • student status
  • whether a journey depends on a current active entitlement
  • whether a fixed-term renewal or subscription has already been created for the current SOLAS cycle
  • whether a tool is only relevant after you have used it before

Best next step

If your account looks different from what you expected, first check My Membership and your My SOLAS dashboard prompts. If the access still looks wrong after that, contact SOLAS support.
