Orders & Payments

Understand how purchases sit behind memberships, jobs, adverts, and tickets, and what order status means.

Orders And Payments

What this area is for

Many SOLAS journeys use WooCommerce behind the scenes, including:

  • membership applications
  • renewals
  • event tickets
  • jobs posting
  • advertising

You may therefore see related information across:

What users should understand

Submitting a form or choosing a product does not always mean the process is fully complete.

In many cases, there also needs to be a related order in the system.

Some membership renewals and learning-access products also use fixed-term subscription logic. That means the checkout may describe a yearly recurring total, but SOLAS still aligns the live renewal term to the correct SOLAS cycle or education term.

Common order statuses

  • Pending payment
  • the order exists, but payment has not completed yet
  • Processing
  • the order has been received and payment has usually completed, but some follow-up may still be taking place
  • Completed
  • the order has finished its main processing path

Why this matters

If access, confirmation, or follow-up has not happened yet, it may be because:

  • the order is still pending
  • payment has not completed
  • an admin review step is still required
  • the related invoice or subscription exists, but the linked workflow has not finished yet

Orders, invoices, and subscriptions

These are connected, but they are not the same thing.

  • Orders show what was purchased and whether checkout completed
  • Invoices show the account-facing billing record for a completed purchase
  • Subscriptions show ongoing or fixed-term renewal arrangements where SOLAS uses them

For example, a membership renewal may produce:

  1. an order
  2. an invoice
  3. a subscription record used to manage the fixed SOLAS renewal term

When to ask SOLAS for help

Contact SOLAS if:

  • you paid but access has not updated after a reasonable time
  • your order looks incomplete
  • you are unsure whether the correct product or form was used

Best next step

If a journey depends on a purchase, check your confirmation email, then review the related order, invoice, or subscription in your account. If the process still looks incomplete after that, contact SOLAS.
