What this is for
Some membership applications ask for a professional referrer.
If a referrer is provided:
- the applicant’s order stores the referrer details
- the referrer may receive an email asking them to confirm the recommendation
- the referrer can open the confirmation link and submit the requested details
For applicants
If you add a referrer, make sure:
- their name is correct
- their email address is correct
- they know you may be using them as a professional referrer
If the email address is wrong, the referrer may never receive the confirmation request.
For referrers
If you receive a referrer confirmation email, you should:
- Open the confirmation link.
- Review the applicant details.
- Confirm or decline as appropriate.
- Add any supporting comments if the form asks for them.
Good to know
- the referrer does not need to be a SOLAS member to complete the confirmation
- the confirmation is part of the membership application process, not a separate membership journey
- SOLAS may still review the application after the referrer has responded
