Friends of SOLAS speakers

Manage your speaker profile, availability, and open speaking opportunities through the dedicated Friends of SOLAS speaker area.

Friends of SOLAS speakers

What this area is for

Use the Friends of SOLAS speaker area if SOLAS has invited you to help as a returning speaker, contributor, or regular guest presenter, or if you want to apply to become available for SOLAS speaking opportunities.

The public Friends of SOLAS directory is separate. It helps visitors discover people who have opted in to having a speaker profile shown publicly.

What you can usually do

  • sign in with the email address linked to your speaker profile
  • request a secure email sign-in link if this is your first speaker profile
  • follow a simple speaker journey: create profile, wait for review, update availability, then express interest in suitable events
  • review or update your speaker profile details
  • confirm your availability and speaking preferences
  • choose whether your profile can appear in the public Friends of SOLAS directory
  • see your latest speaker status, including whether your profile is under review, active, paused, unavailable, or archived
  • review open SOLAS speaker opportunities
  • express interest in a listed event and add a short note for SOLAS
  • return later to check whether an opportunity is interested, shortlisted, invited, confirmed, declined, or withdrawn

Where to update your details

Use the shared profile settings in My Account to update your speaker-facing identity details. This now covers your name, organisation, current role, biography, topics, expertise areas, profile photo, social links, and Friends of SOLAS public directory opt-in.

Use Topics for the broad areas you are comfortable speaking about. If you choose Other, or if your work is more specialist, use Key expertise areas for comma-separated details such as executry accounting, AML controls, client account reconciliations.

Use the Friends of SOLAS availability section when you only need to update your current availability, preferred formats, region, contact preference, or availability notes.

If you are not signed in, the Friends of SOLAS pages ask for your email address and send a one-time sign-in link. First-time speakers are given speaker access automatically so they can complete the shared profile and availability journey.

When you have a linked speaker profile, the speaker area shows a status summary and a simple next-step journey near the top. Use this first if you want to know whether SOLAS has received your profile, whether it is approved, and what the next useful action is.

The speaker area now also includes a simple journey panel. This is there to make the next move obvious:

  • Create profile if you are new to the workflow
  • SOLAS review while a new or updated profile is waiting for approval
  • Update availability when your profile is active and you want SOLAS to see the latest region, format, and timing details
  • Express interest when a live event looks like a good fit

If the Friends of SOLAS directory page includes update buttons, use:

  • Apply or update profile or Update profile when you want to open the shared profile settings and create or correct speaker-facing information
  • Update availability when SOLAS needs to know when, where, or how you are currently available to speak

Important to know

  • this is a dedicated Friends of SOLAS speaker journey, with passwordless access for new and returning speakers
  • expressing interest in an event does not automatically assign you as the speaker
  • SOLAS reviews each expression of interest and may shortlist, invite, confirm, or decline it
  • the opportunity card explains the current state in plain language when SOLAS has already reviewed your interest
  • when SOLAS updates an opportunity status, the current status is shown in your speaker area and may be sent by email
  • new self-serve speaker profiles are held for administrator review before they are accepted as active speakers
  • public directory cards only appear for active speaker records where the public profile opt-in is enabled
  • completing a profile does not guarantee that the profile appears publicly; SOLAS can still pause, archive, or review speaker records
  • you may not see opportunities if the event is not a published SOLAS official event, the slot is not marked open for speaker interest, the reply deadline has passed, or a speaker has already been confirmed
  • rare conference or panel events can still end up with more than one speaker, but extra speakers are usually added by SOLAS staff in the event record rather than through a second public self-serve step

If something does not look right

Check these first:

  • you are signed in with the correct email address
  • you used the same email address that you used to create or update your Friends of SOLAS speaker profile
  • the event is still open for speaker support
  • the date has not already passed

Best next step

Open the Friends of SOLAS network or speaker page you were given by SOLAS, request a sign-in link if needed, then use the shared profile settings plus the Friends of SOLAS availability section to complete your speaker setup and review any live speaking opportunities shown there.
